DIY Paper Flowers

Hey everyone! Today I'm going to show how to make these beautiful paper flowers. These are perfect for decorations for birthdays, weddings, parties or any special occasion in general.

Materials Needed:
  • a flat surface
  • square shaped paper (origami paper or post-its. both work perfectly fine)
  • scissors
  • glue
  • ruler
  • cardboard (optional)
  • thread/ribbon (optional)
  • buttons/rhinestones (optional)

Steps
Start with a square piece of paper or post-it. I decided to cut mine into fourths because I wanted small flowers.
Fold the paper in half diagonally. Make sure the two corners of the paper meets.
Crease it well and keep the "open" part of the fold (where the two points meet) pointing upward.
Fold the paper in half again making sure the two corners meet. This step is not mandatory. I included this for beginners who might need a guide for the next step.
Unfold it.
Bring the bottom corner of the triangle up to the top point. Crease it well. Use the middle crease as a guide. Line up the side of the triangle to the middle crease.
Repeat the previous step on the opposite side.
Unfold it.
Bring the bottom of the triangle up to the last crease that was made. Crease well.
Repeat on the opposite side.
Unfold.
I decided to color code this step because it can be slightly confusing. Open up the triangle and make the green fold go over the red line and so the blue line will be in the middle, forming a diamond shape.
Repeat on the opposite side.
Fold down the top of the diamond.
Next, fold along the middle line of the triangle that was formed on the sides.
Repeat on the opposite side. I recommend stopping here for now and folding the rest of your papers.
Now bring out your glue and put a few drops on the side.
Bring the two sides together to make one petal. I recommend getting a paper clip or bobby pin or anything that will hold the two sides together so you can continue gluing your other pieces.
This is an optional step, but is mandatory for what I had planned. Cut off the corner. I decided to cut off a centimeter off the bottom. You can cut off as much or as little as you want as long as you stay consistent with the other pieces.
Cut off the desired amount. Again, I decided to cut off a centimeter.
Now you just glue your petals together.
Now glue your petals together. I decided to glue six petals though you can do five or even seven.

Now you have a bunch of gorgeous, colorful paper flowers. There are many things you can do with them. as seen in my first picture, I decided to glue them onto my cardboard in the shape of a letter K. You can glue them onto the cardboard in any shape or letter you want. This would be a great piece to add to your bedroom on your wall. If you are going off to college, this would be a great way to personalize your room. If you are looking for a way to decorate for a party, you can put a small loop of thread through the flowers and attach them to a ribbon, making a streamer of flowers as wall decoration. This can also be used to decorate your room or dorm.
Gluing rhinestones or buttons in the center of the flower will help add a bit of shine and pizzazz to your flower. Also, instead of cutting off the bottom corner of the flower, you can leave it and glue the petals together and then stick a toothpick through it and attach it to a Styrofoam ball, making a beautiful bouquet. Or, you can leave the flower without a toothpick and leave it as table decoration.

There are endless possibilities with these flowers. So many different kinds of decorations that can be made. Let me know in the comments if you have any other ideas of how to use these flowers!
