DIY Book Pages Composition Notebook Cover

Hello! For this week’s post, I decided to DIY a boring composition book I had lying around to make it somewhat more aesthetically pleasing.

Materials:

composition book
old book that you’ll never read again
glue
a brush of some sort
a piece of paper
scissors (optional)

Steps:

Rip out pages from the book.

Take one page from the book and tear it however you please. I tore mine out in big paragraphs of the book so there were few empty spaces. You can also use scissors to cut the pages into rectangles if you want.

Then I ripped the large paragraphs in half so they were smaller and I could fit them more easily onto the book.

I tested out where the pieces would go. I decided to randomly place strips on the cover and attempt to fill the space. After that, I ripped out a blank page from the back of the book and placed it down, like a makeshift label for the notebook.

Using the brush, I spread it along the cover of the book, making sure to put a piece of paper under it so the glue doesn’t touch the pages.

I started putting down pieces of the book, making sure to push it down to it was on the book all the way. I covered the book completely.

Since you can still see the black from the composition book through the ripped out pieces, I decided to add a second layer by adding glue to the back of the individual pieces and putting them randomly atop the first.

I let it dry for an hour or so before continuing to glue down any pieces that had not stayed down on the second layer. It dried again and since the cover was a little bent,

I bent the pieces that went past the cover back and glued them onto the back side of the cover. Then I placed a heavy book on top of it to keep it straight.

And that’s it! It was really easy and did not take much time. It also looks really nice. I hope you decide to try this out!! - J
